Westway Development Trust started in 1971 with a mission to help its local community by developing land under and around the Westway, this had been left derelict when the Westway flyover was built in the late 1960’s – the idea was to use the land to deliver local services and to pay for these by renting out some buildings to commercial businesses.

"It was a unique experiment at the time but now it seems like a great idea because we are part of an organisation that helps thousands of local people every year, provides high quality services and does nearly all of this with money it makes itself. "
