Save the Portobello Rd Market Campaign opens the Pop Up Cinema today.

The Portobello Pop Up Cinema starts today its 2011 summer season by hosting a benefit event for the campaign.

Marion Gletteson, a trader who is closely involved with the market, will be discussing issues surrounding the Portobello Road Market and why the Admiral Vernon seven day trading appeal ought to be rejected . “A virtual campaign to protect Portobello from the march of the clones” in the form of a mass text objection will take place.

This will be followed by the screening of Stall Stories (U) a short film by Colville School pupils and by Passport to Pimlico (U) 84 mins, 1949, UK. The most archetypal Ealing Comedy - the inhabitants of Pimlico forgo government austerity measures and declare their own independent state.

Admission today is by donations.

Address: Portobello Pop Up, 3 Acklam Road, London, W10 5TY
