The Albert: A meanwhile project

THE ALBERT meanwhile project opens its doors on Halloween the 31st October with an evening of “trick or treat” from 5-10pm. Come and join the party. ALL age groups are welcome. Fancy dress is optional but encouraged.

Currently the former British Legion building on Albert Road is being transformed by a team of architects, carpenters, artists, local construction trainees and volunteers into a new pop-up venue for arts and community well-being.

A new external ball court and green space will be opened to the public in November when a diverse range of artists, cooks, performers, dancers, choreographers and the unexpected will move into the Albert Centre to work and provide a new exciting programme of activities, workshops and events to the general public.
First tests at THE ALBERT: space for exhibitions, peformances and events.

The Albert FUCNTION ROOM 1: currently being refurbished

For a limited amount of time THE ALBERT will bring together a range of playful projects that people can take part in - projects that test you physically and creatively through movement, play, music and song, taste, touch, dance and socialising. The local neighbourhood and the general public are invited to THE ALBERT to embark on experiments, enjoy the pop-up café and restaurant, join the cycle training, try out something new: sing in a choir, perform as a dancer, grow vegetables, and learn to cook or get physical! There will be lots of interesting spaces and activities to explore including a community food growing project, a public kitchen, exhibitions, and a food market. A detailed programme will be published on the information boards outside THE ALBERT and on the website www.thealbert.org.uk

FUNCTION ROOM 2: currently being refurbished
THE ALBERT has been commissioned by the London Borough of Brent as a “meanwhile project” and is designed and managed by What if: projects Ltd (www.what-if.info) in collaboration with a curatorial team consisting of choreographers h2dance (www.h2dance.com), visual artists Accidents&Emergence (www.accidentandemergence.com) and events organisers Cancan Productions.

A sports hall, various function rooms and treatment suites are available for hire to individuals or groups.
