Dynamic London-born 3 piece The Graphic have now released their debut single "In Case of Emergency". Produced by Tino Troy (co-founder of Praying Mantis), this single and corresponding EP (to be released in Jan 2013) infuses a variety of influences that include grunge, rock, punk and early metal into an original sound.
The band's sound incorporates some quite diverse elements that mix older and more modern styles - Black Sabbath played with a New Wave energy, to create a sound that is sometimes slightly reminiscent of Nirvana or Radiohead. Laurent Shinar's howling vocal style is uncompromisingly punky and the dark subject material of any of his songs (such as "Up or Down" in which he ponders his fate whilst standing before the gates of hell), displays an uncompromising attitude.
Laurent's guitar solos are often hauntingly atonal, which, accompanied by the impressive workrate of drummer Sam Evans and bassist Sam hostettler, create quite a wild sound that is constantly evolving. The Graphic live have an upbeat style that could more easily be compared to bands such as Green Day or The Foo Fighters.
The band has been around since early May 2012 and have impressed the music industry in their short time - opening for Praying Mantis, playing festivals such as Oxjam and headlining shows at several universities.
