Matthew White keeps on surprising us. In the year or so that I have known him, he has sporadically been delivering the most fantastic works of art which have always been quickly snapped up by our art lovers.
His black and white or sometimes sepia images mimic the realism obtained through the camera lens. His incisively precise, use-once-only 11-layer stencils explore the aerosol grey-scale range leaving us with an elegant, sophisticated and sober "moment" in time. Matthew White is an artist to keep a very close eye on. He lets his art speak for itself and we would love it to speak to you.
Matthew White's biography below:
Italian born and London based stencil artist, Matthew White started painting at a young age influenced by punk rock, the skateboard scene and tattoo art.
His background comes from street art and from his education as a graphic designer. At the age of 21 he came across and fell in love with Banksy's work, moved from graffiti to stencil art, turning his daydreaming in photorealistic images on canvas. Moving to London in 2010 gave him the possibility to start exhibiting his works in several galleries (including the new London West Bank Gallery), and to keep taking inspiration from the city surrounding him every day.
Latest updates say he's still following his White Rabbit, who knows what's next. Well, we all know what's next. "I Did it My Way" at the London West Bank. Don't miss it!
