News and Events April - July 2013
February saw the opening of our new series of events called Inside Design - GWS has invited leading designers, companies and brands to share their creative journey in a business to business, creative to creative environment.
Inside Design kicked off with Bill Amberg and was a huge success, we are now really looking forward to the next five. The next Inside Design with Bethan Gray runs from Fri 26th April - Thurs 9th May and will explore the designer's emphasis on understated luxury and longevity, highlighting the importance of high quality material and craftsmanship in her practice.

Make a Silver Ring with Melissa Hunt
One day Jewellery making workshop

This one-day taster workshop, held in the project space at Great Western Studios and run by resident contemporary jeweller Melissa Hunt. She will explore a range of techniques suitable for applying textures and finishes to metal. more+
People and Still Lives by Jane Cochrane

Jane Cochrane paints from life, both in watercolour and in oils. In this solo exhibition, she will be showing various still lives and portraits painted here in England. more+

Bethan Gray Talk Wed 1st May 7pm - 8pm
Alongside well-known pieces such as the Brogue Table, nominated in 2012 for the Elle Decoration Awards, Gray will showcase previously unseen pieces. Currently being developed with a world-renowned stone specialist, a first-time range of home accessories made of stone will be debuted. more+

Elena Tsoka explores the link between time and feelings through a series of paintings that are about 'the small world within a bigger world'. more+
Welldoing workshop with Chantal de Gaudio
One day workshop Sat 25th May 10am - 5pm
This working session gives you an opportunity to clarify where you are at in your life now and how to make exciting possibilities you have longed for attainable. Participants will leave with a stronger awareness of themselves, new tools that can be used in every day life and a defined bespoke action plan of what to do next.

The Chelsea Fringe festival sees the gardens, community spaces, galleries, artist studios and local businesses of the area open their doors to the public and delight them with a huge variety of horticulture-based events.

Orsola de Castro, creative director of From Somewhere, the revolutionary label she started in 1997, and the first to address the issue of pre-consumer waste and reproducibility in recycling for the fashion industry, is known as the Upcycling Queen. more+

If you can walk, you can tango. Everyone is welcome. No sequences to remember, no need to come with a partner. Relaxed drop-in lessons by Argentine teachers Eleonora Simoes & Diego Calarco. Sessions start from 6.30pm every Monday in the gallery and project space.
