The Elgin Pub in Ladbrook Grove has been revamped earlier this year. Now with a new decor and cosy atmosphere, this pub has reaffirmed its place in the area.
One striking thing about it is the new stage and the very good sound quality. Performers there will be treated well on their sound requirements. One can not avoid noticing that effort has been put into it and a resident sound engineer makes sure that this is always the case. Now in another good move, they've turned two upstairs rooms into an exhibition space. We attended the current exhibition and talked with photographer Peter Anderson. One picture that we were curious about was the one on Mick Jagger. He told us:
“The Mick Jagger Photograph was made in Le Beate Route, Soho 1982. After a long lay off the Rolling Stones had a new tour to announce .There was a press call . I was working for NME and sent along to the club. After entertaining the crowd of journalists in the bar, a press officer suggested that Mick Jagger would be available for photographs outside at the back of the club. I found myself caught up in the rammy of Fleet Street photographers. I hadn't encountered anything like this before and had to make the hasty decision when he came running down the fire escape Photograph of Mick Jagger or document the seen. Got both! “
It's good news that a new exhibition space is available in the area. For details on the current exhibition see the article below.
